Would you like to help restore native habitat for rehabilitated animals?
We need YOU! Can you commit to a 4-hour shift to help with habitat restoration and conservation? Your valuable time will make a huge difference in the lives of rehabilitated wild animals that are ready for release but have nowhere else to go.
A half-day commitment may seem like a small amount of time to you but can make a BIG difference for the animals and native wildlife.
Requirements:
- Volunteers either live locally or have a place to stay on their own.
- There is no fee required to participate in this program.
- The minimum age is 18.
- Volunteers have their own transportation to and from Forest Animal Rescue to volunteer.
- Volunteers work shifts as their schedule allows, with shifts potentially available seven days a week.
- There are no minimum hours required, but the more involved you are, the more you are able to be trained to do.
- Volunteers help us with habitat restoration and conservation of native land to benefit rehabilitated Florida animals that need a safe place to be released.
If this sounds like something you would like to do, we would love to meet you!

Hello,
My name is Alison Lemaitre and I’m from France. I’m interested in your resident volunteer. Can you tell me more about this programm please ? I’d like to stay 1 year in USA to take care animals. Is it possible in your center ?
I’m 24 years old. I already went in Calgary for almost 6 months so I’m not afraid of staying in another country for 1 year.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you
Best regards
Alison lemaitre
Alison, I will email more details to you directly.
Thanks for your interest in volunteering with us!
Lisa
Hey Lisa!
Like Alison, I am an international volunteer and am hoping to offer the helping hands of both my boyfriend and I on our trip to America next year. We are planning to stay in the country for 7+ months, and would love to be a part of your team. We are from the United Kingdom, and therefore hope we can enter your establishment for an extended period of time, I look forward to hearing from you, thank you so much!
Saffron
Saffron, We would love to have you. There is a link on our website that provides more information on our full-time residential volunteer program. You can download a project outline that includes pricing and you can apply to participate all right on that page. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
Hi lisa
My husband and I are interested in volenteering. We are retired. Can work any positions. Just moved to silver springs. 5 min from the shelter. Both have worked with domestic animals. Both have carpentry skills. We both also play music and could provide music for fund raisers.
Thank you! If you click the “Apply to volunteer” button on this page (https://www.forestanimalrescue.org/volunteer/local-volunteers/) you will be added to our volunteer database. This will allow you to receive emails when we have volunteer shifts available to get you started!
Hello! I am very interested in volunteering and learning about your animals. I currently work at an equine therapy facility and have previously volunteered at a primate sanctuary for 4 years. I’ve worked with horses, goats, exotic birds, primates (mostly small primates but have done some work with great apes as well), reptiles (alligators and Galapagos tortoises). I’d like to try and expand on species to work with and I wondered if there are available volunteer slots open now or if my application can go into a sort of waiting list. I’d love to be a part of your team!
Selena,
If you submit the online application on the ‘part-time local volunteer’ page, you will be signed up to receive emails with available shifts as they are scheduled. There is no waiting list, we just schedule shifts as we can and they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
